We are a materials chemistry group investigating how structure and order shape the properties of complex materials.
Group Lead
I currently have 3 PhD students working with me: Beth Toogood and Jaskaran Mangat who are in their third year of study and John Hubbard who just started his first year of Hetsys CDT course and is cosupervised by Prof. David Quigley.
Dr Cameron Wilson joined the group in October 2024, on a collaborative Leverhulme Trust project, jointly with Professor Gabriele Sosso. Dr Ola Grendal joined the group October 2026 working with Dr Don Evans, in Physics, on characterising intrinsic heterogeneity in superconductors.

We continue to work closely with former group members Dr Cat Crawford who is now based in the Microscopy group working with Prof. Richard Beanland, Dr Craig Hiley of the Walton group, and Dr Jere Tidey, who is now in the X-ray Diffraction Research Technology Platform.
